Taylor Financial’s Community Support
“I cannot tell you anything that, in a few minutes, will tell you how to be rich. But I can tell you how to feel rich–which is far better, let me tell you first hand, than being rich. Be grateful.” — Ben Stein, Economic Commentator
We are grateful for our work and for our wonderful friends, associates, and clients who make it all so enjoyable. At Taylor Financial Group, we believe that giving back is a big part of being grateful and we make it part of our culture, which is why we donate anywhere from 5-10% of our revenue to charitable causes every year. Some of the organizations, charities and causes that benefit from our giving include:
- The Valley Hospital (Annual Golf Outing Sponsor and Volunteer Trustee)
- Montclair Kimberly Academy (Leading Gift for Development of Muenster Field)
- JFK Medical Center (Annual Golf Outing Sponsor)
- Heifer International (Annual Donation of Biogas Stoves for an Entire Village in Rwanda)
- Toys for Tots (Annual Gift Collection and Donation)
- Christian Health Care Centers (Annual Golf Classic Sponsor and Monthly Volunteer)
- American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (Annual Donation)
- Franklin Lakes Education Foundation (Annual Donation)
- FLOW Follies (Annual Sponsor)
- National MS Society
- Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
- ALS Association
- and many more!
In addition to financial support, the members of the Taylor Financial Group team donate a great deal of their time to local charitable causes, as well. Below are some of our recent service projects and efforts on behalf of local charities.
In years past, we have collected for Toys for Tots, but with the current pandemic, we decided to offer a virtual way to help out those in need and keep everyone safe in the process. This year we had collected 357 items for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
This Thanksgiving, on behalf of our clients, we donated two heifers to families in need through Heifer International. These gifts go a long way! A heifer can produce up to four gallons of milk a day, which can provide enough for a family to drink and share with their neighbors, as well as sell at market! Protein-rich milk can improve the health of sick, malnourished children. And selling extra milk provides much-needed income for food, medicine, schooling and more. Not to mention that a healthy cow can produce a calf every year, which means families can pass on the gift to help their neighbors, too! We feel blessed that we are able to support Heifer International each year!
MOTHERS DAY DONATION
For Mother’s Day this year, we donated to a very special cause that will make a big difference for everyone’s future. Our donation to the Red Cross provides COVID-19 patients with medical supplies that are being unavailable. The humanitarian efforts of the Red Cross provide comfort and hope to so many during their times of need.
TFG collected over 100 toys for our annual Toys for Tots drive during the 2019 Holiday Season.
We were a proud Gold Sponsor of the Ramsey Public Education Foundation’s Sprint for Our Schools 5k race on Saturday, May 11th. We also participated in the race, by running the 3 mile course as a team! What a great cause and event!
TFG collected over 70 toys for our annual Toys for Tots drive during the 2018 Holiday Season.
Girls Who Code
Taylor Financial Group began sponsoring and teaching a “Girls WhoCode Club” for 3rd to 5th graders. The club meets at the Waldwick Public Library in Waldwick, NJ. The club is co-taught by Debra’s son, Bobby, who has a passion for robotics and coding and wants to see girls gain an interest in the field.
MOTHER’S DAY DONATION
For Mother’s Day this year, we donated to a very special cause that will make a big difference for everyone’s future. Our donation to CARE provides scholarships to underprivileged girls in third world countries so that they can attend secondary school. Girls who stay in school are healthier, earn more money as adults, and start families later, which makes them more likely to be able to send their daughters and sons to school. But the cost of secondary school is prohibitive to many impoverished families. This gift of education is an investment we made now that will last for many generations to come.
RAMSEY’S SPRINT FOR OUR SCHOOL’S 5K
We were a proud Silver Sponsor of the RPEF Sprint for Our Schools 5k race on Saturday, May 12th. We also participated in the race, by running the 3 mile course as a team! What a great cause and event!
We are proud to announce that, in March 2018, our very own Rob Taylor was elected as a Board Member of the Ramsey Golf & Country Club (RGCC). The Board of Directors of RGCC is responsible for providing supervision of the golf course, clubhouse and other activities for the 550 homeowners in the community. Rob will assist the Board in establishing policies, making decisions, and providing oversight on behalf of RGCC’s shareholders for efficient running of the Club. Please join us in congratulating Rob and wishing him well on this new venture.
On February 15th, we hosted our very first Galentine’s Dinner at Cafe Panache, where we enjoyed an evening of food, fun and empowerment, while supporting a great cause. For every woman that attended, TFG donated $25 toward Mel’s Mexico Mission Trip. What’s even cooler is that the women who attended also donated. Mel was truly overwhelmed by all the love and support! Thank you to all who attended and donated.
One of our team members, Melinda (a.k.a. Mel), is raising funds for a mission trip with her church to Guadalajara, Mexico this May. TFG matched the first $600 Melinda raised dollar for dollar. We are so proud to support Mel, and we thank you for supporting her with us. Stay tuned for Mel’s update when she returns from her trip at the end of May.
We are so excited that we were able to collect 97 toys through our Toys for Tots toy drive this year, beating last year’s collection. If it wasn’t for the generous donations of our TFG family, we would not have been able to accomplish this. Thank you to everyone who participated!
This Thanksgiving, on behalf of our clients, we donated two heifers to families in need through Heifer International. These gifts go a long way! A heifer can produce up to four gallons of milk a day, which can provide enough for a family to drink and share with their neighbors, as well as sell at market! Not to mention that a healthy cow can produce a calf every year, which means families can pass on the gift to help their neighbors, too! We feel blessed that we are able to support Heifer International each year – we think it’s the best gift we can give!
Taylor Financial Group sponsored the Race for Hope 5K on Saturday, October 14th in Wayne, NJ. Race for Hope helps raise money for Hope Ministries and The Community Food Bank of NJ, which provide food, clothing, and other necessities to people in need, including entire families. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, on any given night in the United States, more than half a million people experience homelessness. Taylor Financial Group is honored to have had the opportunity to sponsor such a great cause, and we look forward to doing it again next year.
Steve and Mel participated, as well, by volunteering and running in the race.
This Labor Day Weekend, we had the honor of being able to assist in the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Through Steve’s Hackensack Rotary affiliation, we donated food and supplies to be delivered to Houston with the help of International Humanitarian Aid Foundation (IHAF). Pastor Andy Topp, the Founder of IHAF, personally flew the food and supplies to the Houston area.
We are so grateful we could be a part of something so meaningful, and our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the people of Houston (and other areas recently affected by hurricanes).
As in past years, Taylor Financial Group once again supported Mel in her volunteer and fundraising efforts with Royal Family KIDS Camp. Mel volunteers at a week-long summer camp for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. In addition to her donation of time, Mel also helps raise money for the camp to be able to host as many children as possible.
January – June 2017
Starting in January 2017, we launched a Women & Investing Workshop Series with the goal of providing what we believe to be a much-needed community service – to educate and empower women to take charge of their future! The workshop series was received with such enthusiasm and interest, that we expanded the series to include Weeknight Encore Workshops open to all, allowing married couples, sons and daughters, and other family members to attend these workshops together. It has been such a blessing and honor to be able to provide this free service for people to learn about all aspects of financial planning, including Retirement Planning, Investment Planning, Estate Planning, Insurance Planning, Social Security, and Budget Planning, among other topics that we continue to develop.
In the first half of 2017 (our Spring Semester), we held a total of 13 workshops, with over 60 women attending, including many who returned month after month. We are SO excited that these workshops have been able to help so many, and we look forward to continuing our workshop series in the Fall Season. Stay tuned for our Fall Workshop Schedule coming soon, which you can view on our Events page by clicking here.
Steve raised funds for and organized the Annual YCS Christmas Party for the children of Hackensack’s Youth Consultation Services (YCS), an organization that provides services to thousands of New Jersey families who have children (from birth through adulthood) with special needs. Approximately 35 special needs children attended the party, and they were all excited to see Santa (a.k.a. Steve). Mel participated too, as Santa’s little helper.
Every year, Taylor Financial Group supports Mel in her volunteer and fundraising efforts with Royal Family KIDS. Mel volunteers at a week-long summer camp for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. In addition to her donation of time, Mel also helps raise money for the camp to be able to host as many children as possible.
Our very own Mel traveled to Guadalajara, Mexico with her church, on a mission trip to reach the many impoverished children and families there. Mel helped raise over $33,000 to support the trip and the people of Guadalajara. We are proud of Mel and support all of her volunteer and fundraising efforts.

Mel volunteered a week of her vacation time to serve as a staff member at Royal Family Kids Camp (RFKC), a camp that provides an opportunity for abused and neglected children in the foster care system to receive the love and care they lack and so desperately need. To honor Mel’s volunteer efforts, Taylor Financial Group returned three of her vacation days to her allowance and donated to RFKC’s annual fund. We are proud to support Mel and RFKC in their mission to love those in need.
Steve and Melinda donated blood for Community Blood Services. Some Facts: Less than 5% of the population donates blood yet 80% will need it at some time in their lives, and every 2.5 seconds someone needs blood. If you’re interested in donating blood, check out locations and opportunities at the Community Blood Services website.
Members of the TFG Team joined the Hackensack Rotary to feed the homeless in Hackensack. It was a special time.

This year, we are volunteering with Christian Health Care Centers in Wyckoff, NJ once a month to help them care for the many elderly residents they so lovingly watch over. We are excited and humbled by the opportunity.
